Stuck?! Sketches #1 for April

It's that time again! I can't believe it's already April. We are being tricked by the nice weather. I expect we'll be wearing shorts this weekend. At least the kids and hubs will be ;) We always have one more snowfall before the end of May. It's just a matter of when....
Here's the first sketch from Stuck?! for April:
And my take on the sketch:

Little man likes to give us the gears about going inside. He is an outdoor kid and as far as he's concerned, outside is where he will stay. The pics are from last fall and he's just sitting down in the middle of the street, refusing to move. We are no further ahead in the negotiation process today so if often means the football hold to get him inside :)

Thanks for stopping in! I will be back tomorrow with layouts from the April kit at SGD!

PS -Thanks for all the great suggestions ladies! Rub-ons are something I never think of and would be perfect for cards. I will have to look at the Stampin' up stamps too!

Sentiment needed

Hello! It's card time again. I discovered that I really lack in the sentiment stamp department! I have never been a stamper but I believe that it would be really useful to own a few different stamps for this endeavour... Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I discovered this flower at the local Dollar store. There are some decent items floating around in there, including some paper flowers and pearls. And you can't really beat the price!

I have lots of layouts to share in the next couple of days including Stuck?! sketches and the next kit for Scrappin Great Deals. Thanks so much for stopping in!

Sunshine

It's a sunny day and I have two little bundles of sunshine that make each day a new adventure! I finally got to play with my latest SC kit! So many fun items in there! I found it so hard to decide what to use...

The sunshine is a new wood veneer that SC put out with March's kit. Played with layering a little mist onto it and love the results! Thanks so much for stopping in. Be sure to check out the sale up at SGD. Hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

Cheers!

Misting goodness

I am back on schedule with a card to share. I would like to take a moment and bow to all the wonderful card makers out there! I love to check out Laura's cards. She appears at SC regularly. I also like checking out Julia's cards. She has started posting layouts too. Of course, both these ladies are fellow Canadians. They have different styles but what they both create is wonderful! I can't forget to mention Andrea and Kimmie. They are fellow Diva's from SGD.

I have no idea how you do it! It takes me longer to create a card than a layout. I think that means I have a problem... or two...
Misting fun. That's what this card it all about. It involves a little masking, lots of dabbing and timing. Glimmer mist works best for this kind of layering, Maya just dries to quickly (which is why I prefer Maya mists for my layouts). I also recommend using Staz-on. It doesn't bleed with the addition of the mist ;)

Thanks for stopping in! Have a great day!

Express yourself

Happy Wednesday! I had a great day off with the kids yesterday, but not a single picture to show for it. We were just too busy having fun. I have lots on the go in terms of layouts but only a few I can share. Here's one:
Can you see the border that I cut from the Making Memories laser cut? Hard to tell on the laptop... Hmm... Love the Origins line by BG. So pretty and versatile. I also really enjoyed using that Hambly doily rub-on. I need a good yellow mist and maybe some turquoise. Any suggestions (non-glitter versions)?

Enjoy the rest of your week and thanks for stopping in!

A card on Monday!

YES! I made it on time! I can't believe that I somehow managed to get almost organized. LOL! So that being said, this is a quick post (I have some serious creating to do!) Here's a nice simple card, with a play on the pp!
I fussy cut the shape out of the pp and popped using 3D dots. I always love working with the paper this way. I don't really find that I am able to do it as easily on a layout. Hope you have a great day! Thanks for stopping in.

A layout (Stuck?! sketches), fun news and thoughts...

Happy Sunday! It is dreary and cold out. I am longing for more sunshine! The kids often suffer cabin fever on days like these. A lot on my mind today so I will start with the easy part, the sketch (edited, I forgot I needed to post this, time flies, so I swapped the layouts!):
My take on the sketch:

Love the pics of our daughter dancing! The pp is popped up so the journal card has a little spot to slide in behind.

On the fun side... I wanted to get a few more details before I shared but I am excited! I applied to GCD Studios. I didn't make the 'design team' but I did make product tester! I have no idea what that entails but I am thrilled! There is some great looking product coming out of GCD and I am looking forward to the fun!
I have had some nice chats with Keshet, Mindy and Heather about submitting and applying to DT spots. (BTW These lovely ladies have all had layouts/cards published in magazines.) It is a hard thing to do, to put yourself out there. To not get the phone call, or not get an email about a layout you submitted can be disappointing. I have learned to submit anything that matches a call, and then to forget about it. There's no opportunity for feedback, so I can't really ever know what needs to be changed! Ali E, guru of the scrap world, had a nice post last week that I have been thinking about. Getting real about scrapbooking. I have to say that I am happy with where I am at... My budget is under control, I don't have a huge excess of supplies, I am having fun. I just need to remember to be true to my own style. I am sure that refining that style is always going to happen, I just want to keep having fun while I do it. My scrappy goals: to have a layout published in a scrapbooking magazine and keep finding DT gigs that are fun and fuel my creativity. What about you? Thanks for reading!

Cheers!

This little bird...

Hello! I am glad that half the week is already over. I am already looking forward to the weekend. I have lots of layout ideas and a few assignments. That's what nap time is for!

I am back today with a layout to share. This is Alden when he was just starting to crawl around in the backyard.

Every time I pull the camera out, he heads straight for it. I can't tell if it's the electronics that he's into or if he just likes reviewing the pics. Maybe a bit of both. I spent a lot of time getting the colour of the heart just right. It is a Heidi Swapp Invisibles and I used Ranger ink as well as mists to colour it. There was a lot of applying colour and wiping it off again. It was fun to play and see what would come of it!

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of your week.
Cheers!

Cards on Monday?

Ummm. Nope! LOL! I will have to start this plan on Tuesday instead (we were all sick this weekend). I have decided that I will post cards on Mondays. Two reasons. One is I have a lot of scraps to use and two is that I owe a lot of family members cards and pictures of the kids. Oh, and three, it is good to expand my horizons and to practice some techniques and ideas on a smaller 'canvas'. We'll see how it goes!
There's a challenge up on the American Crafts blog, so I thought I would play along. Love the little birds from the Blue skies line. (I have been hoarding the little bird badge. The right project will come to me for it!) Thanks for stopping in! Hope you have a great night. I will be back tomorrow with a layout. Don't worry! I will post a layout every Wednesday as previously promised!

Cheers!

It's cold outside

Hello! Hope you are having a great weekend. We are all sick here. So a very quick post. The sun can be deceiving. It is still really cold outside despite the fact that is appears so nice! We bundle Alden up before heading out for a walk or a run.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

PS Thanks for all the lovely comments! I appreciate the visits and kind words!

Sweet boy

Good morning! A little early morning posting to get the day started. I have been wanting to get into my next few pages. I loved my Studio Calico kit from January and do have a few to share. I admit that I am partial to blue. Especially when I have such nice blue eyes to inspire me!

Our little guy loves having a bath after supper. He has become particularly good at providing direction in the bubbles department. Hope you have a great day! Thanks for stopping in!

PS SGD will have the next 12 hour sale up tonight. Check it out here!

Scrappin' Great Deals March kit

Good morning. March? March! Scrappin' Great Deals new kit for March is up now.
Some really fun paper to play with! For the first layout, I cut up the 'girl time' tag and used the scalloped edge for an embellishment. I also decided to create my own flowers. Evelyn was kind enough to sign her name for me. It makes for a fun keepsake!
I added a piece of Kraft cardstock to the kit, seeing as I had cut up too many of the whole pieces to have a base! The white? That came from the back of the die cut!

For this last one, I traced a die cut to use. (Sorry about the reflection on the pic -didn't notice it until now!)
There are two others designing with the kit this month: Andrea and Liz. There's also a new blog up for SGD. Be sure to check it out here! Thanks for stopping in!
